The UK has rarely allowed filming in the Foreign Secretary’s office
Story
In the midst of an international crisis, career diplomat Kate Wyler lands an unlikely high-profile job with geographical implications for her marriage and political future. Producers American & The British government allowed them to use real-life settings as filming locations for the series, including the most recent American embassy (at Nine Elms), which opened in 2018.
Credit to any film or screen production, especially an American one
One location that wasn’t available was Winfield House, the current residence of the US ambassador. Although it’s accurately described as occupying the largest residential estate in London (11 acres), aside from Buckingham Palace, the producers used a country house outside the city for filming.
It’s truly original – it’s never been done before
. Something major happens halfway through the first episode, and somehow the producers of this drama managed to convince the people who made the trailers not to include it.
The writing is brilliant; the plot and dialogue flow together perfectly
I’m only halfway through the second episode, but I can already tell you that this is unlike any other show or book in the spy/spy genre. It’s quite refreshing because it’s not dominated by the kind of paranoia that plagues Australians and others.
The acting is very believable
